Camp Crystal Lake

Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco is private property of the Northern New Jersey Council, BSA.  To protect the health and safety of our youth campers, the camp is not open to visitors at any time outside of official tour dates. Thanks for your understanding!

Welcome to the premiere bucket list experience for Friday the 13th movie fans! Our tours and events take place at Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco in Hardwick, New Jersey, USA where over 80% of Friday the 13th, Part 1 was filmed in 1979.  Our first public tours took place in 2011, but we have only had tours on approximately 83 days since then, so tickets for these exclusive events can sell out quickly. Our 2023 tour season was the biggest and best yet – we welcomed fans from every US state and a least 12 countries.

Is this a scary tour?

Our nostalgic guided tours are not meant to be scary, but fans of the movie will often experience non-stop chills and excitement from the experience of exploring these iconic horror landmarks – especially at night!

Who is behind these tours?

These events are run by camp alumni that are passionate about ensuring that the popular private youth camp, which has been operating continuously since 1927, is around for many generations to come. Our tours provide much needed funding for Northern New Jersey Council’s properties and programs. In addition, we have also raised over $30,000 for other local camps that serve both children from marginalized communities and children with cancer.

Can I come on any day?

The private camp property is not open to the public at any time outside of our official tour dates. Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco has been an active youth camping facility since 1927. The safety of our youth campers is priority #1. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!

What will we see on the tour?

Our guided tours take fans on a walking journey through the famous locations at the camp which have not changed much since the filming in 1979. Our shorter lakefront tour (minimum age 8) focuses on the core filming locations in the lake area including the main cabin (a.k.a. “Comanche” Lodge), Brenda’s cabin (a.k.a. “Seneca” Lodge), Alice’s cabin (a.k.a. “Fox” Lodge), beach area, lake and the famous canoe scene. The full length extended tour (minimum age 13) expands on the lakefront tour and adds the opening fireplace scene, storage building, generator shed, archery range and more. Our photo area featuring replica vehicles and props is available during all tours. Please see the description on the date you are interested in as the activities included with each tour may vary.

Can I stay overnight?

If you’re a super fan of the movie, our VIP Overnight Experience should be at the top of your horror bucket list! This premium experience includes a full tour, dinner, movie screening, campfire, overnight stay in a movie cabin, breakfast, canoeing on the lake, newly forged friendships, memories to last a lifetime and much more! This exclusive overnight opportunity has only been offered on seven weekends since our tours began in 2011.  Stay tuned for future overnight dates. Minimum age 21.

Which tour is better, afternoon tours or evening tours?

Our extended tour is offered both in the afternoon and evening. These tours are identical and visit the same locations, but they have a completely different feel. The afternoon tour is great for photographs, but there’s nothing quite like being there in the evening hours when it gets dark.  Many fans make a return visit to experience both options.

Is there a gift shop?

Yes! Our on-site gift shop is available to ticketed guests before and after their tour. You can also visit our online gift shop at any time.

Do you have a mailing list?

If you can’t make it to one of our upcoming events, please take a moment to join our mailing list to be notified when future events are announced.
