FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

What is this tour all about?

Our tours take you to the famous filming locations at Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco, the primary filming location of Friday the 13th, Part 1. If you’re a super fan of the movie, this is the ultimate experience for your bucket list!

Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco is a very popular Scout camp that has been in continuous operation since 1927. Our tours provide funding for Northern New Jersey Council’s properties and programs. The tours are run by camp alumni that want to ensure the camp is around for generations to come.

Our first tours took place in 2011, but we have only hosted tours on approximately 80 days since then, so tickets for these exclusive events can sell out quickly. Our 2023 tour season was the biggest and best yet – we welcomed fans from every US state and a least 12 countries.

How much of the movie was filmed at camp?

Over 80% of the movie was filmed on the camp property in Hardwick, NJ.

I would really like to attend a tour, how can I find out more?

Check our schedule to learn about upcoming events and join our mailing list to be notified when future events are announced.

Will there be special guests at my tour?

Please review the event description for details on any included activities or special guests for your specific tour or event session.

I can’t make it to an official tour date. Can I visit or sneak in on another day?

Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco is an active youth camping facility. The safety of our youth campers is priority #1. Visitors are not allowed on the property at any time outside of the official tour dates. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!

Isn’t the camp in Blairstown, NJ?

The camp has a Blairstown mailing address, but it is physically located in Hardwick, New Jersey (and Stillwater too!).  None of the camp property is located in Blairstown.

Can I call the camp with tour questions?

Please do not call the camp for anything tour related – our regular camp staff will not be able to assist.  All tour and event inquiries are handled through this website.  Contact us if you have any questions.

Is this a walking tour?

Yes, please bring comfortable footwear and appropriate apparel for the expected weather.  Our walking tours range in length up to 1 mile.

How long does the tour take?

The length of our tours vary depending on the activities included.  The start and end times will be printed on your ticket.  The end time is approximate and will vary based on the number of fans in your group, questions asked, photos taken, etc.

Will I be able to run around like a maniac wearing a hockey mask?

This is a movie location tour – please do not arrive in any costume unless the specific event you have tickets for is a costume event.  Your tour guide will lead you to each filming location so you don’t miss anything. Any type of weapon is prohibited on the property.

You can browse all of our event policies here.

What is your refund policy?

All ticket sales are final. Tickets and fees are not refundable or transferrable to another event under any circumstance, including Covid-19. Please understand these terms when purchasing tickets.

On the rare occasion that an event needs to be postponed due to circumstances beyond our control, your tickets will be honored on the rescheduled date. If the event is cancelled, tickets will be refunded (minus the ticket processing fees). Since 2011, we have only had to cancel one event (due to the Covid-19 pandemic).

What if it rains?

Our tours and events are held rain or shine.  Please monitor the forecast for Hardwick, NJ and come prepared with appropriate clothing, footwear and rain gear. If the event is threatened by dangerous weather or other emergency, information updates will be sent to the ticket purchaser.

I’m flying to the event.  Can you recommend an airport?

The major airports in the New York City area are LaGuardia Airport, JFK Airport and Newark Liberty Airport (with Newark Liberty being the closest of the three).  Lehigh Valley Airport is another option (smaller with less flight options).

I’m coming from far away.  Can you recommend a hotel?

The closest hotel is the Holiday Inn Express in Newton, NJ approx 13 miles from the camp.  There are also options in the Hackettstown NJ, Mount Olive NJ and Stroudsburg PA areas depending on the direction you’re coming from.

I don’t have a car.  Can I take an Uber to the event?

You can get an Uber to the event, but it may be difficult or impossible to get picked up from the area of the camp. In addition, cellular connectivity can be challenging in the area of the camp. We would recommend scheduling your return ride in advance through a local car service.

Can I take public transportation to the tour?

There are unfortunately no buses or trains close to the camp.  The closest buses and trains will be in Hackettstown, NJ.  You would need to prearrange rides from there ahead of the event.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes, our tours and events have minimum age requirements.  Please see the event description for details on the specific date and time you are interested in.  Each child must be accompanied by a ticketed legal guardian.  A photocopy of their birth certificate can be used as proof of age if needed.

I can’t make it to an event.  Is there another way I can help protect these historic structures?

Absolutely!  Click here to make a tax-deductible donation to the Sand Pond Foundation.  Thanks for your generosity!
